At the inquest concerning the death of the footballer, John Purcell, who was injured in a match on June 20, the fcoroner found that death was due to meningitis induced by a blow struck by William H-. Oliver. Tho latter was comiqitted for trial on a charge of alleged manslaughter. In the course of a League football match at Berri on June 20 a quarrel occurred. It was alleged that William Harold Oliver, a prominent inter-State ver, struck John Purcell, who died in the hospital a few days later. Oliver was arrested.
