In spite of the fact that earthquake shocks have again been experienced at Santa Barbara, California, reconstruction work continues apace. Engineers havo discovered a fault where the earthquakes originated. It is four miles in-shore from the city and runs from there directly underneath the famous Spanish Catholic Mission, which was completely wrecked in 1812.. Monday's shocks followed almost the same fissure. The earth and rock dropped away toward the sea for 4ft.

The citizens of San Francisco have taken out policies for £15,000,000 insurance against earthquakes since the Santa Barbara disaster.
