MASSEY NATIONAL MEMORIAL.
Sir,—lt is just eight weeks since Mr. Massey's death and yet nothing so far has been done hire to express in tangible form the esteem, affection and admiration in .which he was held by the whole of tho Auckland community. Much surprise and dissatisfaction has been caused by the failure of the Mayor and City Council to take immediate actiohiih-this matter, and . as loss of time leads to waning interest it is necessary that irfunediate steps be taken by some of our leading men, most of whom were personal friends of the late # Prime Minister, to organise the movement •- for enlisting the support of tho.public ia subscribing to the general fund for the national memorial. There can be rjo doubt that once the thing is fairly started the response to the appeal will be of the most hearty arid generous nature. Auckland will bring dishonour on. itself if it. fails to bring this undertaking to a sue- j, cessful issue. Pao Paibia.
