LONG DISTANCE ROAD RACING
A bill permitting motor races to be T\:zi on English roads has passed its first (stages in tho House of Commons. It is Jvomoted by the Royal Automobile Club, rnd is believed to overcome the objections praised against a similar measure that faifcd in secure Parliamentary approval, last 3'ear. Individuals or associations desiring to promote a car or motor-cycle race will liave to secure first of all the approval ©f the local authorities within whose jurisdiction the projected course will run. Next, they must obtain tho sanction of tho Ministry of Transport, which will need to be satisfied that the roads to be closed during practice hours, as well as for the actual race, can bo barred for the time being to the general public •without " unreasonable inconvenience " Joeing caused. •
