LEAGUE FOOTBALL.
TO-DAY'S* COMPETITIONS. GAMES AT CARLAW PARK. MARIST AND PONSONBY " MEET. The competitions of the Auckland Rugby League will bo advanced another stage this afternoon. The principal game at Carlaw Park will be\ between Ponsonby and Marist. Several players from both clubs are away with the Now Zealand team, but good substitutes have been found, and a splendid game should be witnessed. ■ \ On No. 2 ground Richmond, who have shown groat improvement recently, will' meet Athletic. The latter will no doubt call upon several of thpir juniors to fill the places of the four men now on their way to Sydney. The game should, however, be interesting. Another good game is promised at the Domain, where City meet Newton. - In the B division Kingsland play Otahuhu at Victoria Park, and Mangere meet Northcoto at Carlaw Park. To assist the Ladies' Hockey Association in sending a team to Christchurch, a game between Mount Eden and Training College will bo played as a curtainraiser to the Ponsonby-Marist match at Carlaw Park.
