A MINISTER'S SIDE-LINE.' LORD BIRKENHEAD'S POSITION. LONDON. .1 urio 18. In the llouso of Commons to-day the Prime Minister, Mr. Baldwin, replied to further protests regarding Ministers contributing to newspapers, it having been stated that Karl Birkenhead, Secretary of State for India, was earning £6OOO a year in that way. Mr. Baldwin said that lie had discussed the matter fully with Earl Birkenhead, who had agreed to cease contributing after the completion of a series of articles for monthly publications for which a contract had been signed.
