TAURANGA AFFAIRS.
NEW RAILWAY WHARF* [B7 TELEGRAPH. —OWH CORRESPONDENT. 1 TAURAIiGA, Thursday. The Tauranga Harbour Board met, Mr. Donald Grant presiding. The secretary of the Marine Department advised that a clause of the proposed amending by-law dealing with protected anchorages for yachts and launches and providing for payment of fees for such sites will havo to be revoked. There was no authority in the Harbours Act to enable such a charge to be made, but as it was considered only reasonable that the boards should have such power steps would be taken to amend the Act at the first suitable opportunity. . The district traffic manager of railways, Auckland, acknowledged receipt of a letter concerning the handling and delivery of cargo at the new wharf at Tauranga, and stated that the representations had been forwarded for consideration to the Railway Board. Delegates who attended the annual meeting of the Bay of Plenty Development League reported that the board's remit was adopted urpipg upon the Government the desirability of making provision of the next estimates for a railway connecting llotorua with the East Coast trunk railway.
