Mr. Walter F. Boyle, the new Consul for tho United States in Auckland, who arrived by the Niagara yesterday, is at the Grand Hotel.
Mr. J. C. Malfroy, Hamilton, has been appointed clerk of tho licencing committees for the districts of Hamilton, Raglan and Waikato.
Commander A. M. Peters, D.S.C., who has been appointed to the command of 11.M.5. Dunedin, will arrive in Wellington from London by the Rotorua on Friday.

The Rev. Van der Las, of thf. Bethany Presbyterian Church of Seattle, Washington, arrived by the Niagara yesterday. He is exchanging pulpits with the Hcv. S. Robertson Orr, of St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church, Wellington, for three "months. Mr. Orr has already left for the United States.
Archbishop Averill, accompanied , byt»' tin; Rev. R. George Coats, vicar of the Church of the Epiphany, returned to Auckland yesterday by the Niagara, after a brief visit 'to Suva, where _ they attended the first Synod of the Diocese of Polynesia. Archbishop Averill appeared to be greatly benefited in health as the result of the week spent at sea on the Aorangi and the Niagara.
