OLD LAKE ROAD.

QUESTION OF MATERIAL. COUNCIL RETAINS CONCRETE. A special meeting of the Devonport Borough Council was presided over by the Mayor, Mr, T. Lamont. The meeting was called to discuss a motion of which notice had been given by Mr. E. H. Little, to the effect that a previous motion authorising the construction of Old Lake Road in concrete be rescinded. When plans for the reconstruction of the roads in the borough were prepared, it was intended to lay down Old Lake Road in bitumen. At a subsequent meeting this decision was revoked and construction in concrete was authorised. As the additional cost of concrete was nearly .C2OOO. Mr. Little considered the money could be Well spent on kerbing and channelling in other parts of the borough.
