GERMAN MONARCHISTS.
LEADER REGAINS FREEDOM. OVATION AT MUNICH. LONDON, Mar. 2. On making his first public appearance since his incarceration, Herr Hitler, the German Monarchist leader, received a boisterous welcome from 3000 supporters, whom ho addressed at Munich. He appeared to have lost none of his popularity. The Munich correspondent of the Times says that Herr Hitler spoke for two hours. A denunciation of Marxism and Jews, and the advocacy of a free Nationalist Germany were the chief points of his speech, which was intermittently drowned by bursts of applause. Strong police detachments attended the meeting, fearing disturbances; but the gathering assembled and dispersed without any incident. Herr Hitler, Leader of the Bavarian Monarchists, was tried, in company with Field-Marshal von Ludendorff, at Munich, on a charge of treason against the Republic. The trial, though marked by dramatic incidents, was more or less farcical, and both accused received light sentences.
