STANLEY BAY RESERVES.

RECLAMATION SCHEME. START TO BE MADE SHORTLY. The annual meeting of the Stanley Bay Improvement Association was held on Monday evening, the chairman, Mr. E. Aldridge, presiding. The chairman outlined the work undertaken during the past year in developing the scheme for reclaiming an area of eight acres for conversion into a children's playground and sports area, A sea-wall had already been constructed on the outer edge of the park and tenders had now been called for filling in the area. It was expected that this work would bo undertaken before long. Residents recently authorised the raising of a loan of £2OOO for the scheme. It was proposed to utilise the sum of £BOO which the association had in hand for the erection of a, community hall on the grounds. I t was also proposed to embody in the scheme a children's playing area which would be available to the pupils attending the Stanley Bay school. Toward this the Education Board had made a grant of £3OO. An address on parks arid playgrounds vis ted during her recent trip abroad was given by Mrs, N. E. Ferner. Mr. E. Aldridge was again elected chairman. Last year's executive com- j mitteo was re-elected. >
