large house destroyed. OWNER A HEAVY LOSER. Fire completely destroyed a large twostoreyed wooden residence, occupied hv Mr. 0. 0. Pliair, on the outskirts of Papakura, at about eight o'clock on Saturday evening. Tin* building, which contained 12 rooms, was owned by Mrs. Rrookfield. of ( hristchureh. It was insured for £IOOO Little of the furniture, which was insured for a nominal sum. was saved. The cause of 'he lire is not known. Both owner and occupant are heavy losers. The Papakura Fire. Brigade was soon on the scene and prevented the fire from spreading to any of the properties, nearby.
