KILLED ON A CROSSING.

SOUTHLAND CONSTABLE. TRAIN STRIKES MOTOR-CYCLIST. [by telegraph.—press association.] IN V EEC AEG ILL. Friday. Mounted Constable David Dickson, of the luvercargill force, when riding a motor-cycle at Woodlands this afternoon, was struck by the Ditu eel in express on a crossing, and sustained such injuries that he died shortly after his admission to Southland Hospital. Apparently the constable did not hear the approaching train on account of the high wind, and was. it is said, looking in the opposite direction when the train struck him. The cycle was wrecked. Constable Dickson sustained fracture of both legs and of the skull, and also internal injuries.
