OBITUARY.
-Mr. JAMES EDMONDSON. Tlu; death occurred in Auckland yesterday of Mr. James Edmondson, of Ararimu, at the age of 70. He was born at Roosebeck, near Barrow-in-Furness, England,, being the eldest son o'i John Edmondson. 1 At the age of 15 he left home and commenced life as a farm labourer, and iosa to the position of manager on some of the largest arid best-known farms in Ferness and West Cumberland. For seven years he was manager to the well-known agriculturists, Messrs. M. and J. Towers, <.f Whichani Hall, Cumberland. About 1890 he entered the employ of the Furness Railway Company, and remained with it until he came to New Zealand in 1906. While employed on the railway he was attached to the engineer's department, and was often employed in reconstruction work of various kinds. He could relate many incidents which occurred during his adventurous work. After coming to N*w Zealand be bought a farm at Ararimu, and had resided there ever since. In 1887 lie married Miss Hannah Tyson. Both his sons served in the great war, one being killed. Mr. Edmondson leaves a widow, one son and one daughter.
