BENEFICIAL RAINS.
WAIKATO AND TAURANGA. [BY TELEGRAPH. —OWN CORRESPONDENT.] HAMILTON. Wednesday Heavy rain lias been falling intermittently in Hamilton since Saturday evening with humid conditions. The total registered to 9 a.m. yesterday was 2.16 in., and the fall for the 24' hours ended 9 a.m. to-day was .65in. The fall is widespread through tho district, and is doing immense good to tho pastures and root and green feed crops. TAURANGA, Wednesday. Heavy rain set in again last evening and continued till s6ven o'clock this morning when the weather cleared. It has been fine but muggy to-day. The moisture since Saturday has benefited the pastures greatly and ensures a splendid growth of feed for the autumn. DRY SPELL BROKEN. RAIN IN SOUTHLAND.
