QUESTION OF AN ENGINEER. [BV telegraph.—own correspondent. ] PUKEKOEE, "Wednesday. It would not appear as if work' was scarce at Pukekoho. The Borough Council advertised for tenders for regrading and metalling part of West Road, but received no response. The bowling Club for the last three summers- has consumed between 50,000 and 64,000 gallons of water and has notified that it would use more if it were available. The council has agreed to put in a 3-inch pipe instead of the present 14-inch pipe. The question of appointing a borough engineer or engaging a consulting engineer when required will bo fought at the forthcoming election for members of the council, was a statement made by the Mayor, Mr. J. Rontly, at last meeting. The population of the borough of Pukekohe is . estimated at 2300.
