BRITISH SHIPPING.
A DEPRESSING OUTLOOK. HIGH COST OF BUILDING. A statement that the outlook for shipping in the United Kingdom is depressing was made yesterday by Lord Maclay, head of the shipping firm of Maclay, Mclntyre, who arrived by the Ulimaroa from Sydney. Generally speaking, trade was still much restricted, Lord Maclay :=aid, and the expeir/es of operating * were very high. He believed the cost of shipbuilding was probably 75 per cent, higher now than during the war.
