STRUCK BY PASSING CAR.
MOTORIST'S NARROW ESCAPE, NO STOP TO INVESTIGATE. [BS TELEGRAPH. —OWN CORRESPONDENT.] PTJKEKOHE. Tuesday. 14' narrow escape from serious accident occurred between Papakura and Drury recently. A Pukekohe resident and his wife were driving in a motor-car from Auckland in the evening. Shortly after nine o'clock a largo car was seen overtaking them at what was thought to be an excessive speed. The man remarked to his wife that he would give the car plenty of room, and pulled to the side. The oncoming car, however, struck the twoseater, which fortunately instead of turning over, was forced around. Hie driver of the heavy machine did not wait to see if any damage had been done, but kept on his way. The lady in the small car was an invalid, and it was with difficulty that she was able to bo moved while repairs were being executed.
