Tho Otahuhu Trotting Club will open its summer meeting on Saturday next, and the character of the acceptances received for the various events which form tho programme are such as to ensure a, first-class day a sport. A pleasins feature of the acceptance list is the, number of horses engaged in the leading event, the Otahuhu Cup: and with the 101 l owing horses likely to take part there is material for a very interesting contest:— Orion. Ae he is goioa to Canterbury after the Olahuhii meeting, it Js. probable ho will make his Iwrt appearance in Auckland at that fixture, and a victory for him would be very popular, but, judging from bis present mark, he has the hardest part, to play. By his .sterling performances Man-o-War lias won his way right to the hearts of Aucklandera. and , we will bo sorry to lose him. Mr. J. Barrett, owner of Realm, arrived from Sydney yesterday by the Uliniaro.a with ii, view to Bficinc his horse contest m the Otahuhu Cup on Saturday at Alexandra Park. Mr. ,1. Williams, another enthusiast of trotting was also a passenger by tho same steamer. The Wanganui Trotting Club opens .its annual mealing on Friday.
