DISORDERS IN JAPAN.
BATTLE LASTS ALL NIGHT, TOKIO. Feb. 7. News of a serious clash on January 18, between the villagers of Nittagun, in the Gumma Province, and members of the former outcast class termed Eta, was released to-day, simultaneously with the news of the conviction of 71 villagers on the charge of rioting. A thousand people were engaged in a battle which lasted all night. They were armed with hoes, clubs, bamboo spears ar.d swords, and a number were killed, and many wounded. The Eta village was destroyed. Police from surrounding sections concentrated on checking the battle, and later surrounded tho villagers, and arrested 200 of them. The battle was one of many which have been fought since the Eta lately organised a national association in. defence of ifs riffhte. Tho. news was suppressed in order to prevent serious fighting from breaking out elsewhere. As the Eta class totals 1,000,000 men, it can defend its claim to equality with other Japanese. It is suspected that Communist agents are inciting tho Eta class, which is growing decidedly aggressive,
