HAMILTON CARNIVAL.
PROPOSAL ABANDONED. SHOPPING WEEK SUGGESTED. [Bit TELEGRAPH. — OWN CORRESPONDENT. J HAMILTON. Monday. The proposal to hold a carnival week at Hamilton at- Easter was further considered at a public meeting convened by the Hamilton Chamber of Commerce this evening. There was a very small attendance, and owing to the little interest taken in the project it was decided not to proceed further with it. It was resolved on the motion of Mr. J. A. Young., M.P., to recommend the scheme of r. shopping week to the residents of Ham> ilton and to offer the chamber's support to any organisation set up to carry the proposal through. A letter to this effect was authorised to be sent to the Hamilton Retailers' Association.
