TO-DAY'S WEATHER. HERALD'S SPECIAL FORECAST. The following weather forecast for 24 hours from 7 a.m. to-day was supplied to us by Mr. H. M. Vincent last evening:— Showery and unsettled weather is indicated over most of the Dominion, but conditions will improve everywhere shortly, and become temporarily cooler. Pronounced tropical influences, typical of the season, now govern weather conditions over a considerable area, practically the whole of Australasia being involved. Westerly winds, moderate to strong, backing to south. Seas rough, though moderating. Barometer, midnight, 29.85 in.: rising. GOVERNMENT REPORT. The Government meteorologist reported last evening as follows:—Present indications arc for northerly winds, strong to gale, backing to westerlies; weather cloudy and unsettled, with further rain generally, and heavy rain and flooded rivers in the west coast and southernmost districts of the South Island.
