RACECOURSE TRESPASS.
d«g§m»~ FINE OF £2O IMPOSED. CONVICTION IN OTHER CASE,, Charges that being undesirable persons they trespassed on the 1 akapuna racecourse during a race, meeting were, admitted by Claude Oswald McCiilly and Harold Raymond Kerr, in the Police Court yesterday. McCully, who had no excuse, was fined £2O, in default, one month's imprisonment, his application ior time to pay being refused. Chief-Detective Cummings .stated that McCully had been previously fined £2O for betting. He knew he had no right on the course. Accused: I have a wife and family. Mr. J. W. Poynton, S.M. : That is no excuse. Accused: I was not even warned to get off the course. Mr. Poynton: You know the position. Fined £2O, in default one mouth. Accused: Will you give me time to pay ? Mr. Poynton: No: it I did you would only make it up at the races Accused: I have my cart and two horses up the street. Can 1 take them back to the stable? Mr. Poynton: The police will pick them up for you. Accused was later conveyed to gaol. Kerr stated -ho bad delivered a load of timber at Takapuna, and called at tho racecourse only for a minute to tell his mother he would take her home in his bus. Mr. Poynton: We will take into consideration your excuse whether it is true or not. Yon arc convicted and ordered to come up for sentence on July 1, when your term of probation ends. Cliief-Detectivc Cummings: Accused must understand this excuse will not be accepted next time. Mr. Poynton: Oh, no, but it will probably be his mother-in-law next time.
