LORRIES AND THE ROADS, [BY TELEGRAPH.—OWN CORRESPONDENT. ] HAMILTON", Wednesday. The Waikato County Council met yesterday, Mr. J. P. Bailey presiding. A complaint was received from Mr. F. G. Storey that heavy lorries wore doing considerable damage to the roads. It was decided to await the issue of the Government's traffic regulations before , taking action. The Waiterimu and Matahura Ratepayers' Association wrote asking the council to remove willows from the Waiterimu Stream as thev had diverted the stream, which in turn threatened to Undermine the bridge approach. The engineer was instructed to remove the willows. It was resolved to contribute half the cost of effecting improvements to Telephone Road, Gordonton, for miles, the settlors to find the balance in the -value of teams and labour. A committee was appointed to meet the settlers of Puketaha with a view to ascertaining the best methods of treating the roads of the district to enable them to withstand the increasingly heavy traffic. A tender was accepted for the sanding of tho Hamilton-Morrinsville Road at Eureka. . Mr. W. Henry was authorised to inquire into a complaint made by the Mangawara settlers that no metal had been placed on Rutherford's Road and a request that the road be nlade passable for the winter.
