WOMAN TAKES POISON.

RESULT OF ILL-HEALTH. An elderly married woman, whose name was ordered to be suppressed, appeared ill the Police Court yesterday on a charge of attempting to commit suicide on February 2. Insomnia, ill-health and financial worry were the causes assigned by SeniorSergeant Edwards for the woman's act. She was discovered unconscious in bed and a doctor found she was suffering from the effects of poison. A letter lying alongside showed the state of mind" she was in at the time. It was rather a sad case and it appeared the woman haß been run-down and had not the will power to go on. Accused's daughter undertook to care for her and she was accordingly convicted and ordered to pay £4 0s 6d medical expenses.
