STOCK FOR THE ARCTIC.
Sir "Robeit Greig, chairman of the Scottish Board of Agriculture, addressing in Canada last month the agricultural section of the British Association for the Advancement of Science, predicted success for ilie Canadian experiments with crossbred .cows and buffaloes, resulting in what have previously been referred to iri these columns as " cattalos." These animals, lie said, would make available territory of little use for crops, and result in extensive live stock development in Northern Canada. The anatomy of the cow would be altered to the extent of producing the Jong, fine coat of hair of game animals, mi that ice would freeze; on the longer hairs without chilling the beast. The second objective was to develop shaggy manes and heavy eyebrows, so that the animal illicit turn into the wind without discomfort.
