MILK-AND SODA.
A syphon containing a pint and a-half of soda water rusts retail more than I two pints of bottled milk. This fact has been pointed <*it to Mr. 'Phillip Snowden, late Chancellor of the Exchequer. Chemists charge from 6d to 10d a syphon for soda-water, but bottled milk is now being, sold in such residential districts of London as Mayfair, Jlampstead, and Holder's (iveen at 6d. per quart, or the same price as milk in cans. Yet water— the raw material in the former case— is .conveyed to the factory through pipes from the water-main at low rates, whereas milk lias. usually to be tarried bv hand from the cowshed to the cart or motor-lorry in Which it is transported to the railway station.
