CYCLONIC DISTURBANCE.
NOW OFF EAST COAST. FURTHER TROUBLE UNLIKELY. [BY TELEGRAPH. —OWN CORRESPONDENT.] WELLINGTON. Saturday. In a report this morning, the actingdirector of the Meteorological Department, Mr. B. V. Pemberton, said: "The centre of the cyclonic disturbance responsible for the heavy weather during the past four days has moved to a position off the east coast of the North Island, and in its present position may be considered to be beyond causing further trouble as far as New Zealand is concerned. Though gales are still reported to-day at various places in and north of Cook Strait, the conditions have moderated generally since early this morning. Further heavy rains Ivere experienced yesterday and last night in many parts of the North <sland, and in the north-eastern districts o the South Island, but this morning oily passing showers wer< ; . reported, and these were chiefly confined to the eastern coast."
