SURGEON MURDERS WIFE.
EXTRAORDINARY DEFENCE
A. and X.Z. WARSAW. Dec. 17. A Polish surgeon. Kasprzak, justifies having niurd?red and dismcnibeiod his wife on tht; ground that he wanted to show what a man could he driven to do if he were refused a divorce. Detectives accidentally discovered Kasprzak with portions of the dismembered woman in a travelling hag. As his professional explanations were inconclusive, the police made inquiiies and found that his wife was missing. The marriage had been unhappy, Kas- ' przak had applied for divorce, and lost j the ease. He accordingly killed his wife I with a hatchet, and was taking the dismembered body to Warsaw for disposal | when he was discovered. I The police boarded the train to search ' the passengers' luggage for contraband, | with not the least suspicion of the ciitne. ! Kasprzak at his trial pleaded not guilty, : saying the Divorce Court was responsible. He was sentenced to penal servitude for life.
