STRUCK BY AN ENGINE.

MARRIED MAN KILLED. FATALITY AT PORTLAND. fBY TELEGRAPH.—OWN CORRESPONDENT. J WEIANGAREI, Wednesday. A fatal accident occurred on Wilsons Portland Cement Company's line this morning. A man named Alfred Fenton, over 50 years of age, was struck by the engine of a train, being mutilated about the lower part of the body, while an arm was severed. He succumbed within half an hour. Ho was a married man with one child, and had been employed at Portland for a considerable time. The district coroner, Mr. R. W. Tate, opened an inquest to-day, and adjourned it until Tuesday after evidence of identification had been given.
