PREPARING FOR HOLIDAYS

CARGO STEAMERS TO LAY UP.

WAITOMO AND WAIHORA.

Two of the Union Steam Ship Company's cargo steamers, the Waitomo and the Waihora, are to be laid up in Auckland until after the holiday season. The crew of the Waitomo, which is now discharging Newcastle coal at the King's "Vharf, have already been paid off, and a similar step will be taken by the company on the arrival of the Waihora from Newcastle to-day.
