CAMBRIDGE CONFERENCE.

[BY TELEGRAPH. —OWN CORRESPONDENT. ] CAMBRIDGE. Thursday. At the Council Chambers yesterday representatives of the Cambridge Borough Council met Mr. J. G. Wynyard (chairman), and members of the Mam Highways Board, and discussed several matters regarding the main highway through the Cambridge district. iTie Mayor, Mr. C. H. Priestley, pointed out the increasing through traffic over tho road. With the laying down of permanent reading on the main thoroughfare this traffic would greatly increase. The Mayor considered this a sufficient reason for the council's request to the board for assistance in maintenance. Concerning the Karapiro Bridge and that portion' oi: the main road from the bridge to the borough boundary, the Mayor said they made a direct request to the board that tho mainlei an':e of tho bridge, and this portion d 1 tho road r.hould be taken over. The bridge, with repairs, would perhaps stand for four or five years.
