OPENING IN APRIL.

THE RANGIRIRI DEVIATION. NOT READY FOR HOLIDAYS. ~ INTIMATION FROM MINISTER. The possibility, entertained among some motorists, of the Rangiriri deviation being opened for light traffic during the summer holiday season, is dispelled in a communication received by the council of the Auckland Automobile Association from the Minister for Public Works last evening. The letter was sent in answer to , the association's inquiry. The Hon. J. G. Coates' reply was as

follows:—" The deviation at Rangiriri will not be available for any sort of traffic during the coming holiday season. It will probably be about April next before the Rangiriri deviation can be considered as fit for general traffic" The letter was received.
