MENACE FROM EGYPT.

VIOLENT NATIONALISTS,

ANTI-BRITISH CONSPIRACY.

A' MASSACRE THREATENED.

By Telegraph— Association—Copyright. Sun. - LONDON. Dec. 8, The Cairo correspondent of the Daily Mail says that anti-British conspirators will find a difficulty in selecting assassins to go to London. Such emissaries would scarcely be likely to escape arrest, and therefore must not ho deeply initiated into the Nationalist conspiracy for fear they should betray, important secrets. , . rThere is a Nihilist clique attached to tho Nationalist Party in Cairo, says tJie correspondent. This clique holds secret meetings in tho * houses of wealthy Egyptian supporters, where they excite themselves into political hysteria . with, smuggled cocaine. "Hurrah . for Death!" is a common ejaculation at these orgies, during which violent criminals, as well as students, take part. All the Egyptian Ministers have received a circular purporting to • have been signed' by army officers who have been expelled from the Sudan. The circular says these officers intend to lead a military rising and to massacre all the British in Egypt. The circular is regarded as a Nationalist forgery. King Fuad having rejected the demand of tho Nationalist deputies to reassemble Parliament immediately, they arc sending another petition repeating tho demand in violent' terms, ' and denouncing Ziwar Pasha, tho Prime Minister, as "a British puppet."

PLOT AGAINST ALLENBY. -

PROMINENT MEN ARRESTED. ACTS OF , EXTREMISTS.

LONDON. Dec. 1. Hie attack on the British Residencv, which is situated in the modern Kash-el-Dubara district, south of the great Nile Bridge, is an outcome of the Nationalist . agitation against British rule in Egypt, and connected with the plot, recently discovered to assassinate the High Commissioner, Lord Allenby. Though the situation, following the recent outbreaks in Cairo, and later the mutiny in the Sudan, is considerably quieter, the extreme element in the country, led by Zaghlul Pasha, tlio former Prime Minister, constitutes a serious ' menace. Many arrests have been'made in Cairo in consequence of the discovery of the ; plot against Lord Allenby. Ten promi-' nent politicians arrested are described as members of Zaghlul's party. They include Hassan Yassin, who was Zaghlul's agent in inflaming the students and organising street demonstrations, and Barakat Pasha,, who was formerly Minister for the .. Interior. Many revolutionary students also have been arrested. ... , >. [ Immediately the plot was discovered. ; the British guards at the Residency and other official quarters were increased, and . high officers and officials were ordered not, ;; to appear in public ; unless adequately guarded and armed. Lord Allenby, suspecting that an attempt might be made on his life, did not attend the St. Andrew's Day dinner, pleading illness. " ' •_ ~
