[BV - TELEGRAPH. —OWN CORRESPONDENT. ]
HAMILTON. Monday.
Harnessed to a racing sulky, and in charge of an attendant, a thoroughbred trotting horse was being driven over Lie Hamilton traffic bridge at 10 o'clock last evening when a motor-car travelling in the. opposite direction collided with the sulky and carried its right wheel completely off, besides doing other damage. The force of the impact swung the horse against the side rails of the bridge. Tho attendant, who was walking at the roar of the sulky, .was fortunately not injured.
Glancing casually round at the damago he had caused, the motor driver is alleged to have accelerated his pace and sped down River Road into the darkness. There was no light on the sulky but the motorist could hardly have been unaware of the collision as there was a report as the pneumatic tyre of the damaged wheel burst, in addition to which the pitiful cry of the liorso was audible for quite a distance.
