WIDOW FOUND GUILTY.

DEATH OF TWO CHILDREN. MANSLAUGHTER BY NEGLECT. A. and N.Z. HOBAKT. Dec. 5. The widow, Mrs. Wells, has been found guilty of the manslaughter of hor child, which is alleged to have died as the result of neglect, and she has been ordered to be detained during the Governor's pleasure. One child 2£ years old was taken to the hospital dead, and one six years old died later. The younger was swarming with vermin, and death was due to blood poisoning, caused by neglect and filth. The elder child died of acute nephritis, and was coveted with vermin bites. The woman had se»'en children, but said she was too poor to consult a doctor. The. coroner, who was very moved at the terrible .story, said the whole community was to blame for permitting the appalling conditions to exist.
