»GHOST" THAT WAS AFRAID

SPECTRE'S CLOTHES FOUND.

Tonbridgo has lost its ghost in a prosaic manner. For nights past ha had been appearing from behind tho houses near the Pot Kiln Farm, to the consternation of some of the inhabitants, who were firmly convinced of his supernatural origin. But the spectre has now been "laid" by a local gardener, not with bell, book and candle, but by the discovery of his abandoned wearing apparel in one of the Tonbridge school playing fields. This consisted of a white sheet and an apron. It is conjectured that the ghost did not want to face the crowd of 200 that were waiting for him, armed with all kinds of lethal weapons.
