Joynson Hicks, presiding at the Council of the Primrose League, said he knew Mr. Baldwin was determined there should bo no reaction in the policy of the Conservative party. Mr. Baldwin intended to proceed with a policy of social and carrying out the pledges given to the people. SEASONS FOE OMISSIONS LORD DERBY'S REFUSAL.

The Morning Post states that Sir Robert Home will probably be unable to join the Ministry because of his business commitments. Lord Derby has refused *>Hico in any capacity, explaining that while ho whole-heartedly supports the Conservatives,- ho feels that there is plenty of material available for Cabinet making and he prefers to devote his time to Lancashire affairs, political and otherwise.
Prominent Liberals held a conference and decided that Mr. Asquith should address his followers at the Reform Club on Monday before d?parture on a holiday to Egypt.
The National Conference of Liberals has been fixed for early in 1925, to discuss the position of the party. TRIBUTE TO MR. THOMAS. WORK AT COLONIAL OFFICE. A CERTAIN DISTINCTION. A. and N.Z. LONDON. Kov. 6. The Times eulogises Mi-. J. H. Thomas' York at the Colonial Office. His was one of the few personal records in the MMcDonald Government which not only w;j, irreproachable, but which carried a cer-i tain distinction.
