BOARD MEMBER RESIGNS.
AUDITOR-GENERAL'S " TAG." " INTERESTED" IN A FIRM, [BT TELEGHAI'H. —PRESS ASSOCIATION.] CHRISTCHURCH. Friday. ' As a result of being the subject of a "tag" . on the Canterbury Education Board's balance-sheet, Mr. . R. Wild, the representative of the • north-west ward, has resigned. : An unusual position arose from the fact that the Education Board had dealings with a firm with which Mr. Wild had some connection, r and in auditing the board's • balance-sheet, the Auditor-General came to the conclusion that Mr. Wild was "interested' or concerned" within the meaning of the Act in the transactions between the board and the' firm, and had, therefore, become disqualified. . • t • In his* letter of resignation, Mr. Wild intimated his intention of seeking reelection. • Although 1 , it was conceded that he did not in any way benefit .by ' any' dealings of the firm referred to, .he felt it was necessary that there should be no reflection upon the disinterestedness ;of the services of members of local bodies.
