The newspapers j:;ivo prominence to Mr. Ramsay Mac Donald's acquisition last March of 20,000 £1 shares in the biscuit firm of McVitie and Price.
The controlling partner of the firm, Mr. Alexander Grant, who has been a lifelong friend and admirer of the Prime Minister, received a baronetcy in June-
Mr. Mac Donald, questioned at Lossiemouth, Elginshire, Scotland, regarding the purchase of shares, said: The capital was not mine; I only technically own the shares. The matter has nothing to do with politics. Sir Alexander Grant received the baronetcy in recognition of his public services, including tho gift of a national library to Scotland. The Morning Post points out that the transaction in shares is on public record at the registry at Edinburgh and that there was no attempt at concealment.
