RANGIRIRI MUD.
Sir,—An article of recent date apparently seems to answer the query why the deviation was made instead or metalling the .old road. It says: " Probably some are not aware of the excellent grade; that has been obtained by the deviation." Now, the short bends on the old road are comparatively few, and to straighten them out wbdd involve no great cost. As tax-payers we have a right to-expect value for our money, and apparently we are not getting this on'this road j to say nothing Of the inconvenience of having an impassable road to date. A private firm would not, and could not, tolerate such mismanagement. We all make mistakes, but there is no excuse whatever in a matter such as this. Fabxeh.
