HEAVY RAIN AT SEA.
THE MAHENO'S EXPERIENCE.
SHOWERY CONDITIONS IN CITY.
A sudder; change took place in the weather at Auckland yesterday after the clear southerly weather of the List few days. Early in the morning the wind changed to the north-east and the sky became overcast and threatening. At midday the weather became showery, falling at frequent intervals up to a late hour.
The boisterous and wet conditions extended a considerable distance north of Auckland, as Awanui reported last evening thftt the wind was blowing freshly from the north-east and the conditions were threatening.
The Maheno, which is duo this afternoon from Sydney,. reported that at noon yesterday she was 360 miles from Auckland and encountering thick weather with heavy rain.
The barometer, which registered 30.30 in. on Sunday night, fell slowly all yesterday and last night the reading was 30.05itt.
