Tho spell is not serious, however, as tho conditions earlier in the winter were good. Alto Chimes, Snowahoe, Argus, Coil and Man-o'-Wr.r. who were handicapped for tho International Handicap, one milo, on tho first day of the Metropolitan Trotting Club's meeting are not eligible, tho rao« being for horses who have done 2m Kb or better. Groat Bingcn, Realm. Don Wild, and Hal Junior are said to be unlikely startara in th« ; Aucuct Handicap on the nrst' day of the j Addington meeting. Ibnowßboo looks in great fettle for his engagements at Addington next month. Hi* stable mate Realm is also going on well in spits of intermittent lameness, which appears not to be serious. Orwx continues to set through Rood work at New Brighton, arid she is likely to race prominently in the big eiveuts at Addington next month. Whispering Willie is going in hi# best form at present. The little trotter appears to be quite sound, and he may get some money at Addington, • especially if the ground is soft. The American stallion, Guy Parish, has improved since his arrival about a month ago. He seem 3to have thrown off his soreness, and he has built up in c'ondition. A few days ago J. N. Clarke sent him along for about a quarter Q f a mile and the new . arrival demonstrated that ho had a threat turn of spesd, in addition to trotting, m a most attractive style. Guy Parish will do stud duty at New Brighton this year and' will then be put into training. Mr. A. A. Fooks is relinquishing his positions a3 secrets,ry to the Ashbnrton Country Racing Club and Ashburton Trotting Club which ho has held for a, number of years. After tho Autrust meeting of the. New Zealand Mptropolitan Trotting Club Nelson Price will relinquish his position as private trainer to Mr, u. Channing .and Messrs. Clarkson and Graham. He will commence as a public trainer at New Brighton.
