CONTROL OF THE SPORT-
The annual meeting of the Auckland Boxing Centre was heldyesterday, Mr. B. G. Coateo presiding. The Northern Boxing Association was represented by Messrs. G. Sanders and G. Hodgson. The report stated that during the year the Biiort had been well oatered for by the affiliated associations within the district, seven permits having been granted to the Northern Boxing Association, four to Waihi, three to Taumarunui, and two each to Taneatna and Bay of Plenty. Associations had been formed at Pukekohe and Frankton Junction, while the latter body had been granted a charter subsequent to the Hamilton Association being struck off the list of affiliated associations. After referring to the fact that the present members of the New Zealand Boxing Association, with headquarters at Christohurok, had signified tneir intention of retiring, the report stated: "The allegation made by the existing council that amateur sport haß not been catered for in the manner originally intended requires emphatic and combined repudiation, failing whiioh it would, appear that measures are likely to be taken whereby a duplicate set of associations may be • formed to control amateur boxing, and the existing associations be declared professional promoting bodies. Associations within our provinoe should leave no'atone unturned to combat any action that would hinder our associations from the promotion and encouragement of the amateur aide of eport." A credit balance of £31 was shown for the past financial year. Those present generally expressed themselves in acoord with the council that there should be two bodies to control the Bport. The officers were re-elected unopposed.
