As th result of the discussions which took plac the Victorian Government decided' that i would be willing for New Zealand potato* to be admitted under certain conditions which may be summarised as follows: — That provision be made by regulatio under ithe Federal Quarantine Act t allow the admission of New Zealand pots toes, if they are accompanied by a Goa eminent certificate of having been exan ined and found free from powdery scab c other scheduled disease. Also, that the have been grown on a farm or farms o which a special inspection has shown 11 indication of the existence of powder scab for a period of 12 months. Inspe< tion at the port of entry will be pn vided for, and it may be that th growers will be required to stencil the; names on the bags. " When Dr. Reakes left Australia, said the Minister, " the matter was i the hands of the Commonwealth author ties, and ho had very good reasons f( hoping that it would go through a right."
