GALE IN CHRISTCHURCH.
FENCES RAZED TO GROUND The gale which swept over Chrisl church last Sunday did considerable dan age in residential quarter?. Paling fencc which offered a large surface to the win suffered considerably. In several cast fences were razed to the ground, whi. innumerable sheets of roofing iron wei loosened by the force of the - gale, . large tree was blown across the footpat in Oxford Terrace in front of tli Y.M.C.A. building, _ and several moi trees were uprooibd in other parts of th city. A number of the seats in ictori Square were also blown over.
