EMPIRE RIFLE MEETING.
NO NEW ZEALAND TEAM.
[BY teIegraph.— ASSOCIATION.] WELLINGTON. Wednesday. The chairman of the National Kifle Association, Mr. H. Marshall, states that it has been found impossible to secure a team to represent New Zealand. at the Empire Rifle Meeting in July. The grant most kindly offered by the Government and appreciated by the association is £1000, but as the • cost of each man would run well into' three figures, even with this grant, and apart from loss of pay, a majority: of those asked find that they cannot afford to go. As those, who are unable to make the trip comprise Simmonds,: Neilscn, West, Roots, Masefield, Croxton, L. . Loveday, Hunt, James, ! Feast, E. Ballinger, H. Donald, Blackwood and . Duncan, it is obvious, said' Mr. Marshall, that 'I any team going would not be a truly representative one. The only men prepared to accept the positions in the team were Nichol, Piper, Veale, Gillick, Bolton and Mills.; Disappointment, is naturally : felt in rifle shooting .cirdeß. -..,
