BRITAIN'S LIQUOR BILL.
FIGURES FOR YEAR 1923. A. and N.Z. LONDON. April 27. The United Kingdom Alliance reports that the British people spent £307,500,000 in intoxicants during 1923, as compared with £330,000,000 in 1922. The consumption of beer increased by . 3 per cent, and of wine per cent. The consumption of spirits decreased by 6i per cent. The beer, consumed in 1923 totalled 930,000,000 gallons. The cost was £193,000,000.
