IRISH GIRLS.
Sir, —I have read the statements of the TBishop of Galw,ay about our Irisli girls. When a young man in Ireland I have had the very great pleasure of meeting our Irish girls at house parties, reunions, marriages and christenings. During my recent visit Home I visited Ireland on three occasions. I have travelled around and through Ireland, have met the Irish girls and women in all walks of life, from the highest nobility to the| poorest peasantry, and I must say in all my travels around the globe I have never met purer-minded or more virtuous women or girls than I have found in Ireland. They are equal, if not better, than their sisters in other countries. Statistics have proved this. The Bishop may speak about some limited section, but when he speaks of all Irish girls I say his statements are false, fictitious and without foundation and are a gross libel on our Irish girls. J. H. Hannan. Remuera,, April 19, 1924.
