SCHOOL OF ARCHITECTURE
PROFESSOR FOR AUCKLAND. POSITION TO BE FILLED. Applications for the position of professor of . architecture at . the Auckland University College, at a salary of £900 a year, are to be invited by the College Council. In moving the adoption of this course at yesterday's meeting of the council, the president, the Hon. George Fowlds, said that those who disputed Auckland's claims for special schools were now apt to point to the School of Architecture and say that very little use had been made of it. "It is not an easy matter completely to refute such criticism,'' remarked Mr. Fowlds, "and I think the time has come when we should advertise for a professor of architecture at a salary that will secure the services of a first-rate man. The Auckland architects with whom. I have been in Sbnsultation are keen as mustard about Ft, and I am certain that if we can secure the appointment of a really competent professor, we. can make the school well worth while."
